iPhone 7 came in. They said it wouldn’t come on, and has been off for weeks. I installed a new display, and decided to test a known good battery, instead of waiting for the old one to accept a charge. It does not come on, and the board is extremely hot. I unplugged and left on the charger for 20 mins. Doesn’t come on, but doesn’t get hot either. I’m concerned about leaving it unattended on the charger. Also I tested the display and battery on a different phone. All seems good. Her old display comes on, LCD is trashed. There are some holes in the glass, but top left, not too right, where the board is and no signs of water damage @refectio @oldturkey03 @mayer I forget Bens tag @benjamen50
Go bare board and add modules until you understand what is drawing excess current. If it’s just the bare board, then start at the beginning and look for shorts or partial shorts. It sounds like this phone took a beating so it could be anything really. BTW it’s @refectio ;>) (maybe we should create a @TheMedinho account …naw, TPTB might not like it )
Check all the main voltage rails, and can you be specific about what part is heating up? It might burn you accidentally, but the trick I use all the time is to put the board up to my face and see what parts heat up the most.
