Hello, I have an iPhone 7 with a non functioning rear camera. I bought this phone second hand. All I know about the device is that it has had a screen replacement before. The device takes video no problem but continues to show a white screen when ever taking a photo. I have looked at the schematics of the iPhone 7 and narrowed it down to one of the filters above the connector (J4501). I saw that the last filter (C2512) has been broken in the microscope (possibly by a screw driver or prying tool). Can this filter be the reason that I am only seeing white in the camera while the video is working fine? I have never done a soldering job that small before, please let me know if I have concluded correctly. P.S. I’ve already tried replacing the camera with a known good so the camera module itself being the issue is most likely out of the question.
It appears that you have already diagnosed the problem and answered your own question for the most part here. This break would definitely contribute to any abnormalities with the camera. If you feel comfortable with trying to solder it then go for it but just be forewarned that these types of things don’t usually end well. =( Hope this helps.
