Chosen Solution
I recently attempted to fix my friends iphone 6s screen. When he gave it to me it seemed to be working (it was out of power but charge indication popped up) but just had a shattered display. I replaced the finger sensor with his old one, and hooked up everything no problem. After screwing everything back into place, I plugged it into my Mac to charge. I came back after about ten minutes to find the Mac had registered it on iTunes and was asking for permission to access. I hit the homebutton but to no avail the screen didnt turn on. After hitting the sleep/wake button a couple times, the screen came on for less then a second and then went black. I preformed the quick restart (using the homebutton and sleep/wakebutton) and when i hit the power button a couple times it flashed on for a second then off again. I repeated this about ten times and became progressivly more frustrated. I would like to note that the phone only turned on when I hit the sleep/wake button twice, and that the phone does seem to be running in the background. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jake
Did you disconnect the battery before removing or installing the screen? That is a common error with casual fixers; even techs forget or skip the step on occasion. Not disconnecting the battery can cause the backlight circuit on the logic board to blow. The iPhone 6S is particularly sensitive to this compared to the older devices. It is possible that its just a bad replacement screen though. To test that, put back the original, shattered screen to see if it works properly or has the same symptoms. To confirm a backlight issue, connect your phone to iTunes. Once it beeps to say it is recognized, shine a bright flashlight on the screen. If you see a dim image, then your backlight is blown. Repairing a blown backlight circuit requires a micro-soldering repair and is not DIY.
