My boyfriend and I had a completely broken iPhone 6 we bought to fix. We have fixed many phones before. The screen was shattered completely. And nothing lit up if plugged in. The power button was also damaged. So we bought a new power button and screen and replaced both. Well it still did not power on or even show it was getting charged. So we bought a new charging port we installed that today. Still nothing. Left it plugged in over a hour hoping it would work. The bottom of the phone where the charging port is was hot but nothing else and no sign of life. Also tried the hard reset test and we tried seeing if we unplugged the battery if it would boot loop to indicate bad battery. However nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

The bottom of the phone where the charging port is was hot but nothing else and no sign of life. What exactly is hot for you? “Burning hot, I can’t keep my finger on it” or “it feels nice, kinda warm”? The phone should not be “burning hot”, except maybe the CPU under heavy processing. That is the most important clue. Phones that won’t power on are usually experiencing a faulty battery, a bad charge port or a failure of the logic board. You should have ordered a battery at the same time as the charge port as the battery is always the most likely thing to fail. That said, the heat at the bottom of the logic board could indicate a short circuit. As @solon said, you need to test to see if you have a short. Measure the resistance (unplug your phone first) between the two gold contacts in the battery connector on the logic board. Mine reads about 23KOhms but you don’t want to see a short or really low value. If you see a short, look for debris or damage with a magnifying glass or loupe. If you don’t see a short, then try a battery first and if that doesn’t work, consider finding a repair shop that does micro-soldering repairs.
