So recently, I had to replace the screen on my iPhone 6 and unfortunately, in the process I accidentally ripped the home button flex cable. This actually damaged both the home button flex cable that connects to the motherboard, as well as the home button’s cable itself. Currently, my phone is working fine, it’s just that the home button doesn’t work. I didn’t know that the actual home button’s cable was damaged, so I only bought a new home button flex cable to be connected to the motherboard. When I took my phone apart to put the new cable in, it was at that point when I realized that my home button’s cable was actually damaged, too. So I was thinking, “Ok, I’ll just buy a new home button.” I connected the new home button flex cable to the motherboard just to see if it works or not. At this point in time, I had completely reassembled the phone with the new home button flex cable inside, connected to the motherboard, but not connected to the home button’s cable because again, it’s damaged. I tried booting the device and it just wouldn’t boot. I went in and disconnected the new home button flex cable and connected the old home button flex cable back in the motherboard and it booted… So at this point, my questions are, how come my phone boots with the old home button flex cable connected, but not the new one? Both cables were not connected to the home button , only the connector to the motherboard was connected in both scenarios. When my new home button comes in the mail, and if I were to put in the new home button flex cable ALONG WITH the new home button, will the phone boot? Or is it simply hopeless? By the way, I don’t care about Touch ID. I just want my home button to do home button things.
It’s a good thing you don’t care about Touch ID, cause that’s lost forever. Sorry. Where are you buying your parts from. Had a business partner that would have these issues, I did the exact same thing, and I didn’t yield the same results. He was unbelievably cheap though.
