Hi there, I got a water damaged iPhone 6. As usual I removed motherboard, removed all the metal shields, did a full cleaning using pure alchoho. Once done, I tested the phone, everything else including touch works fine except the display. The display colour is distorted, vertical lines running across the screen. Tested the phone with a working screen, same result. So it must be the motherboard. Can anyone tell me which IC is most likely the culprit? Many thanks. Please see the attached picture for the problem.
I’ve seen this with bad connections so it’s possible the water damage affected the LCD connector. Double check the integrity of all the soldered pins as well as look for dark corrosion on the connector itself, perhaps one or more of them are not making good contact.
Okay, I’m 73 yrs female and computer idiot. That one stage down from computer illiterate. However after reading lots of stuff.. Having been told I’d have to remove the screen to fix my color distorted screen and learning that it was going to cost me money I didn’t have. I came across the tap 3 times system (thru accessibility etc) I’ll be darn if it didn’t work. My daughter finds it unbelievable that I fixed it. Me too
