iPhone 5s 16gig, second hand. Phone is in good condition despite this fault. Screen has yellow spot/streak running down the upper left corner, strongest at the top. Could this be due to pressure on the display, or burn-in? Simply age?

Can happen sometimes on replacement screens or even original screens. Its a pressure mark when the screen glue is pushed between the LCD / digitizer layer and the glass. Sometimes it may be actually a bloated iPhone 5s battery pushing up against the screen from under the screen. If the battery isn’t bloated, replacing the screen will fix this issue. I’m going to go with screen been replaced before. Some aftermarket screens have the yellow mark issue usually due to the loca liquid glue not being spreaded out evenly when they assemble / refurbish the screens (talking in terms of whoever makes the aftermarket screens).
