Dear all, My iPhone 5S, when the screen is on (i.e., when I’m using it) the top-left corner over heats!! it really gets warm, of course the battery is consumed faster due to this. The whole screen doesn’t heat up, only this small part out of the LCD itself.
The screen is broken into 5 big peaces (but in the bottom of the phone, away from the top) but still working. I have seen some disassemblies videos and looks like only the small vibrating motor is there. I have to replace the screen anyway, but, does anyone know if this problem is due to the broken screen or something inside the phone? Many thanks!
The only thing of note in the top-left corner is the vibrator. If I read your question properly, this overheating started occurring after you cracked your screen. Two things could be happening here: The vibrator is shorted and drawing lots of current, hence the excess heat and battery drain. The vibrator is fine but the contact pads underneath, that make electrical contact, are shorted and hence the excess heat and battery drain. This could have been caused by the impact that cracked your screen. I would open the phone, following this guide very carefully (and gently) and remove the vibrator. Look for obvious debris or anything else that is amiss. The flex cable may also be damaged. Then see if your phone works normally (minus the vibrate function). If so, then order a new vibrator.
