Hello, my friend sent an Iphone 5s (with a crash on it) to the shop where he bought it, they said that the on/off conector in the motherboard is broken, and that the only place that he can get it fixed is in a apple’s store. Did you consider that its necesary to replace the motherboard or it’s not to difficult to repair? Thank you.

The FPC can be replaced by a good micro-soldering repair shop. As @oldturkey03 says, Apple will not do any board level work, they will only offer you an OOW replacement. Dane makes a good point that you will need to balance the cost of a port replacement with the value of the phone. That said, I believe most shops will not charge that much for the repair (I know I don’t) and depending on the configuration of your device (16G or 32G or ?), it may still be worth investing some money on it. Only your friend can make that decision.
