The home button on my iphone 5s does not register home button presses, but touch ID is fine, and I feel a normal “click” when I press it. Is there any way to fix just the switch that registers presses without replacing the entire home button assembly to retain touchID functionality? I have already reseated the home button flex connection. Thanks.

On the 5s the clicker part is replaceable, but it will require a little microsoldering. Cover everything up with kapton tape except the clicker. Heat it up with hot air pencil until solder melts, take it off then put a new one on. I’ve never done it before, but I’m pretty sure it will work.

Trying this. Not sure if it will work

  1. Backup your device via icloud (use assistive touch for home button)
  2. Use a new touch id home button
  3. Put your iPhone in DFU mode. Restore it via iTunes If it doesn’t work: solution 1) Grab your original components and take your phone to the Apple store solution 2)
  4. Put your original home button back in the phone
  5. DFU restore your device
  6. Jailbreak your device
  7. Use a tweak called Virtual Home as alternative
