The home button on my iphone 5s does not register home button presses, but touch ID is fine, and I feel a normal “click” when I press it. Is there any way to fix just the switch that registers presses without replacing the entire home button assembly to retain touchID functionality? I have already reseated the home button flex connection. Thanks.
On the 5s the clicker part is replaceable, but it will require a little microsoldering. Cover everything up with kapton tape except the clicker. Heat it up with hot air pencil until solder melts, take it off then put a new one on. I’ve never done it before, but I’m pretty sure it will work.
Trying this. Not sure if it will work
- Backup your device via icloud (use assistive touch for home button)
- Use a new touch id home button
- Put your iPhone in DFU mode. Restore it via iTunes If it doesn’t work: solution 1) Grab your original components and take your phone to the Apple store solution 2)
- Put your original home button back in the phone
- DFU restore your device
- Jailbreak your device
- Use a tweak called Virtual Home as alternative
