So I’m trying to repair and iPhone 5s that is complete dead won’t turn on and is not detected by iTunes. When I removed the logic board and removed the shield off I noticed a capacitor missing below the cpu. I have used the schematic to find the type of capacitor and order a replacement however I won’t to know the best way of soldering it in. I plan on use some kapton tape to protect components and simply use a heat gun on the capacitor will this work

I do not recommend using heat guns for micro-soldering. iPhone logic boards are very thin, have up to 10 layers of copper traces and have high component density. Applying too much heat can kill your board. Especially if you are working anywhere near the CPU/SoC. Your best bet is to find a professional who has experience doing this and has access to the proper tools.
