After replacing the power/ volume flex cable on my white iphone 5 it started behaving strange, it started turning on and off by itself, the first thing i tried was to connect it to itunes and update it to ios 8.1.2. When i updatet it also restored it. But the same thing started happening again. But sometimes it doesn’t tur off at all, but if i restart it myself it starts restarting by itself again . I have also tried 4 different batteries in the phone without any luck. Do anyone have any tips about what i can do to fix this?

Hi Vegard, A/ Did you try cleaning the battery connector using a cotton swab dipped in 90%+ isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol? It is simple to try, so rule it out first. B/ Next, try and disconnect the PMV cable that you previously replaced. C/ While keeping it disconnected, attach the battery, and connect your iPhone to a charger or to a laptop. The iPhone should then restart. If the issue is gone, reseat the cable. If the issue returns, you installed a defective PMV cable and you need to replace it again. Try a different source, get a good quality cable. D/ If all the above don’t solve it, examine the battery connector and around it using a magnifying glass. Look for anything damaged, broken, missing, part removed. There’s a glass-like rectangular component just above where the lightning dock connects on the board. Is it chipped? Let us know if you find something, and upload a picture if you can.

Have you tried replacing the proximity sensor again? Maybe it is a faulty sensor that you installed. I just had an iPhone 5 this past week that had the same problem as well. I replaced the screen display and all the problems went away. Don’t know if this will help, but give it a shot and see if it works.

Try disconnecting all hardware like rear/front camera etc, and see if it powers up fine, if it does, plug one in at a time, and when the problem happens again, that will be your culprit. If it still has the problem with everything disconnected, then I’m unsure what else there is.

This happens to my iPhone 5 as well. Never had with my previous iPhones. I replaced the battery still happens. I have to connect the cable to use it. But not properly I can only get to phone by sliding it across to only 4 apps.

My dad got me an iPhone of ebay, and it is terrible the battery just goes down and it’s really slow one minute it says its on 100% then its on 1%.I just don’t understand, now i have had my phone for a while and its powering on but the it just powers of so i can’t go on my phone. HOPE someone can help me :)
