My iPhone 5 will not restore, shows a strange graphic under restore (See video), and shows “the iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9),” and goes back to restore mode. The phone has never been opened and no parts were replaced before this issue. TinyUmbrella was no good, resetting hosts file to default was no good, DFU mode is a no go… It seems like a hardware issue, and I could really use some tips, especially in component-level repair. SoS Mac, try what Apple suggests: Error 9: This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software. Also, read How to fix iTunes error 9. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes, it solved my problem too. Error (9) basically means there is a non original hardware installed, and the phone simply wont accept that and generates error 9. So what I did was turned it off, disconnected the LCD screen, home button and restored from iTunes with those two devices disconnected. It worked great, I disconnected both because I had replaced both devices and they were generic.

this is internal memory i.c problem NAND change i.c your problem will solve

Try to restore your device on 3uTools, to see if it works~

Hi there, It has been a week that i bought an iPhone 5. It has error 9..4014…3007…and with black screen. But! Right now at 27/08/14 12:09am it’s unlocked :D.

  1. First no need to go on DFU mode, it’s already on just by checking with tinyumbrella “log”. it says “DFU device connected”. => then close tiny. What i will talk about is not “THE” solution, because ERROR 9 is from everywhere… *some ppl would tell about changing front camera flex wire, plug off camera wire while restoring, change charging port, put on DFU mode…etc etc etc… 2)About my computer : _I put it on ethernet so no wifi. I use win 8 x64. *i have tried on XP, Win7, Win8, macbook 2014 retina and macbook i5 2013 _Install itune x64 _I’ve closed all apps _Checked if host file was good _Download firmware 7.1.2 3)About my iPhone 5 I went across a lot of site about error 9 iphone 5/5S/4/4S…. _I changed the charging port _changed the battery _changed The front camera _Changed usb wire 4)Process 1_Unistall then install itune. 2_Reboot computer 3_Plug in your iPhone. Itune pop up with “a recovery device …..detected…etc” 4_Do 2 or 3 “hard reboot”. *If i did not do this error 4014 will pop up 5_Each time you hard reboot, don’t forget to push ok on itune 6_Shift+restoration then select your firmware. 7_And what you need is to try this 1,2,3,4….10 times until it get better! Don’t know if this will work for everyone, but i hope it will ! Error 9 Resolved.

The usual causes for error on most devices are when it is related to software issues. The thing here is that hardware, no matter how solid they are supposed to be, also contribute to the downfall of your iOS device’s functionality. Here are the common causes for this error to occur. Your iOS device is jailbroken.Security software on your computer is causing communication blockages between you and Apple update servers.Your firewall, either on Windows or Mac, is blocking communication between you and the Apple servers. There has been a network setting error or it has been corrupted in some way.In conjunction with the 4th cause - Your own computer has been known to hack or jailbreak another iOS device which caused confusion in device recognition. The USB cable caused an interruption in the update or restoration process.

My error 9 was fixed by putting the original parts back on it (front screen assembly). It seems to me, that it was apple fraking with me, because i put un-original parts on the phone. I put back the original screen and restored the phone. *!&$!&$^ apple…
