Chosen Solution

I run an iPhone repair business in the UK, so I do have a reasonable amount of experience with these devices and until iOS 7 came out I had no issues with this problem I am about to explain. A customer came into the store yesterday with a broken screen and power button on the iPhone 5. So I replaced the power button flex to fix the button and replaced the screen with an original part. But then when I turned the phone back on everything worked perfectly apart from the front camera. I have sent my customer away to restore the device and then Im sure he will be back if it doesnt work, but does anyone know a fix for this? (I am always extra careful when removing the digitizer and camera flex cables, and yes I have checked if its plugged in correctly three times.)

I think I found a solution to the issue. I believe that it is possible to blow one of the IC connectors with static. I had to replace the whole phone for one of my customers. The only way I found to prevent this from happening in the future is to buy a static mat online, with a wrist strap and an earth plug, you can find this on ebay. Hope this helped people.

I had the same problem. I had a cracked screen so I replaced the front screen using an assembly kit I purchased online (home button and camera assembly included). Everything worked fine with the exception of the front facing camera. If I switched to the front facing camera in the camera app, the screen would look blurry and the camera app would freeze. I couldn’t return back to the rear facing camera without restarting the phone. I tried connecting and disconnecting the camera connection multiple times without success. Finally, I removed the camera from my old display assembly and attached it to my new assembly. On the first try, everything worked fine. Problem solved for me.

This can happen is the battery is left plugged in during the repair and can sometimes call for a new front facing camera.

has anybody come up with a solution for this yet? I am having the same issue, I have replaced the “iPhone 5 Front-Facing Camera and Sensor Cable Replacement” twice with no luck. I’ve also done a factory reset on the phone and looked for any damaged I’ve may had cause with no luck.

You have most likely knocked off a componant when unplugging the connections that’s under the black tape around were the camera flex connects or bent pins on the motherboard were it plugs in

same problem i took apart my iphone and the front camara and the rotation screen dont work anymore, i did noticed that i cracked a black chip that is underneath the blach cover in were the screen conector are but i dont believe that cause it because i had cracked the same chip in another iphone 5 and it work normar but i this acation the front facing camara and the rotation screen dont work

I had the same issue. Camera stopped working in Camera app but working fine in 3rd party apps. I did a full restore (needs to put the iPhone in DFU first) and the problem was solved. Again, needs to put in DFU mode first.

What’s DFU mode pls x

mmickybabes1972; The DFU mode is like the recovery mode, but deeper. You can follow these instructions to put your iphone in DFU mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15qaTA4l

What do I do after iPhone is in DFU mode to restore it?

Soo I brought this iPhone 5c from this girl yesterday, but it doesn’t have a front screen. The camera, screen and home button is missing. If I was to buy a new screen would a home button and camera come with it or would I have to buy it separate?

i have a iphone 5s. my phone’s back camera is not working but front camera is working properly. yesterday i was use it but today it is not working. how can i solve it. please help me guys.

yall stupid for breaking your phone in the first place

Try Disconnecting Battery or turn off phone and restart while holding home button After screen replacement I had a frozen and blurry front camera, changing for another camera did not fix the problem. I then disconnected the battery and camera started working again. I have done many screen replacement before without issue but I think I forgot to turn the phone off and it caused this problem.

I have the same problem, I changed the front camera/speaker and when I connected all together the front camera doesnt work but when I try switch it to front camera it goes back to the back camera.

Yo, i am experiencing almost the same , but with me the photo camera wont start immediately , only if i switch to slowmo video mode and than back to video and photo , than it all of sudden works , if i switch back to photo from the video modus the photo still dont work only with if i switch to slowmo and back , and i only can select my front cam if i do everything in that order , i found this very annoying , and all this happened after a screen replacement that i did for like a week ago , I also tried hard resetting the phone , multiple times , tried pressing the camera and everything , with no succes, i tried the reset with DFU mode and also with just iTunes , all methods and still the same plus i forgot to add that i always had the phone set up as a new phone and than afterwards tried to restore the backup but even before i had restored the phone the camera problem was just the same ! stupid 5s screen replacement :(

There is a little piece of paper on the Black Screens located next to the camera on the old screen if you don’t move this paper over to the new screen the front camera will not work. Make sure on all Black screen replacements you are checking to make sure its moved. Attached is a picture of the paper location. The red square.
