I replaced my iPhone 4S screen and when I restarted it everything looked ok. After a short while however the new screen started displaying a milky white glow along the edges. I’ve reopened it and checked the connectors but no luck. I’m also suspecting that it’s spreading. The digitizer works fine. Any ideas what may cause this and how to fix it? Update: after letting it rest overnight the screen looked fine first thing in the morning, however the white ‘halo’ reappeared shortly after. Heatsink issue?

Hi, today I had the same issue with an iPhone 4S! In my situation it was caused due to a bad quality of the replacement digitizer (incl. LCD). When I looked at the borders of the Digitizer, the left side of the black frame border was a little bit higher than the other side. Due to this quality fault the LCD gets pressure from bottom and it causes white ghost effects on the outlines. Will return it and order another one from another shop. Good luck! Best regards, Tolga

I did my repair. Tested it in the middle and it worked fine. Then when I got all done with it there was a white border. This was for a customer so as you can imagine VERY annoying. I have to get a new screen. Also it might have happened because I put in a screw under the motherboard instead of over it and it could have hit the LCD and caused it to white border around the edges.

My phone developed this white halo randomly: I had not just replaced it or done anything with the screen. It has spread rapidly all of today. When the image on the screen is black (such as when looking at a dark picture) six circles are noticeable.

Hello, I ordered 5 x iPhone 4s digitizers (inc LCD) But all of them have this problem: on the sides from the LCD there is white. What can I do? On the original(broken) digitizer there is black tape behind the LCD. Make this the different? Please help !!

Any solutions, couse china not give warranty easy…

I just replaced an lcd and after about 30 min it developed this halo. I haven’t had a chance to fix it, but I think it was because I didn’t remove the blue plastic film on the back of the lcd. Not having enough clearance, the plastic presses against the lcd and causes discoloration. Hopefully I can fix this issue tomorrow.

Why does it happen randomly? Sometimes I can restart and it’s fine, some times a foggy halo but I can see the screen, and sometimes just black or a faint white circle. Mine worked great for four days and then this started happening.

But its also possible that you have some dust or remains of old LCD between new lcd and the frame.

Yeah, I too have this problem.. The thing is, I would test the replacement screens before installing by hooking up the digitizer and lcd ribbons without dissembling the entire phone.. and the white halo still shows up after 30mins or so.. Leading me to believe it may be the connectors or something thats causing this.
