I have ordered a replacement home button, not the whole home button assembly. I was wondering, before I took my phone apart will I need any glue or anything to connect it to the assembly, or if I take the old one off will it break the assembly? Thank you.
You should be able to put the plastic home button onto the actual cable as long as there is some adhesive on the plastic piece or the cable itself. You can also use double sided tape as well for a part like that. Just a note, replacing just the plastic piece itself and the not the cable will not fix any issue related to home button performance unless the plastic button itself is physical broken or something like that.
