Have you checked your Settings yet? Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > then scroll down to Hearing, under where it has LED Flash, Mono Audio, and then L/R. Make sure its centered. If it isnt, do so. If it is, you have a obvious hardware issue. My settings where panned all the way to the Left. I thought my iPhone was having the same issue until I realized this option somehow got changed. Good luck.

unless you were willing to open the jack emisor, what i recommend to you is to buy a new piece or if it is too expensive or difficult to find buy a broken iPhone 4 on ebay, so you would have a lot of repairing pieces. sorry i can´t speak english as good as i wish. i hope i had help you.

I just got an iPhone 5s and the sound would only come out of the left earbud .. Somehow the settings were changed thought me touching them.. If you go into accessibility in the general setting there is a left-right control by the mono audio which was set all the way to left

i just got a secondhand iphone5 (only 3 months old) and theres only sound on the left bud.. i tried all the settings but the problem persists.. when i pull out the headphone plug slightly (about 3millimeters) and press it sideways, i get stereo sound.. how do i fix this..?! thnx

You gotta make sure mono audio is on as well as centered it works for me

Hi all I got an iPhone 5. Recently voice come out of right side and muffled voice on the left side. I’ve cleaned the jack but no luck!! I’ve checked the setting and different earphones. How can I make sure that the jack is not working ?

Just push the end of the cord down into the jack really hard. If you find the right spot it should work on both sides. It’s a little annoying, but at least it makes it work :)

Sometimes lint etc collects in the base of the phone thereby causing the charger/doc interface to send bad info to phone; The result can be a loss of an audio channel as you describe. One can search for how to clean with a cotton swab. Also (keep) clean the charger socket that connects to the phone. If cleaning is required, be sure to unplug charger from power first. cheers, Ben
