iPhone 4 was in water for less than a minute. I dried it in rice for 48 hours and it was not working. When plugged in a battery shape with a few red lines appeared and it started up but continued searching for service and would not connect to wifi. After searching through this site I got the phone apart and removed the battery. Only the bottom water sensor was red. I left the battery out over night then cleaned it and the cell antenna with rubbing alcohol and put the phone back together. It was working fine for several days then it just shut down. Once plugged in it went back to how it was after during it out and changed the date. I tried repeating the steps I did before and it didn’t work. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to do. If there is anything that may need cleaned or replaced or if the phone is past fixing.

battery replacement is a must after water damage—i.e order a new battery. You still need to clean the logic board itself—it doesn’t sound like you removed the logic board, took off the bottom EMI shields and scrubbed out any corrosion—this is also a must when you know there was water in the phone…otherwise corrosion will continue and the phone will grow new problems. these are inexpensive things to do, i would recommend giving them a try and then if you still have a problem, then you may need to have someone look at your board—which may entirely still be repairable even if there is board damage. jessa

my iphone4 was in the water about 5 minutes… after i took it out from water, its blank and become hot… I’ve try to open and clean the water inside my phone but i cant because i dont have a tools. then my friends and research in the internet recommend to dry it in rice… so, i put it in the rice about 3 weeks and “blink” it start work until now hihihi… so happy… seem nothing happens to my phone

You should use Silica gel instead of rice The rice thing is a myth
