My old iphone 4’s sleep/wake button died, so i followed a friends advice and decided to try putting a small pieced of paper in between the button and contact. I followed ifixit’s guide to install a new button, but instead of installing a new one, i merely took a small piece of paper and wedged it in between the button and contact. I tested it out before putting it back together and the button had decent feedback, so i preceded to put it back together. I cleaned all of the contact points with windex, dried them with a micro-fiber cloth and then used compressed air to make sure everything was dry and no particles were left. I was very gentle on the cables to maker sure I didn’t break anything. I carefully put the logic board back in making sure not to damage the gold connector and I kept track of all the screws by laying them out on their assigned spaces on a diagram I drew up. After putting it all back together, I pressed the power button, but nothing happened the screen didn’t light up or anything (no backlight), but after about a minute the phone buzzed and the backlight came on. Now when i press the sleep/wake button I can power cycle the phone a turn the screen on and off, but no image appears, just the backlight. I opened it back up and carefully cleaned the connectors with windex, but still nothing happens. I’ve restarted the phone, but to no avail. I also tried restoring via dfu but nothing happened. I got the phone to play music, and i could sync and backed it up with itunes so it must be a screen issue? Problem: when i turn on my iphone 4, the screen stays completely black (no backlight) through the boot sequence, but then when iOS is actually loaded and the lock screen is supposed to come up only the backlight turns on and there is no image. This happened after sleep/wake button repair. I also closely checked the logic board connectors for damage, but I did not see any (specifically the resistor right below the lcd connector)

did you take the screen of to get the 2 screws out for the power button? or did you bent the flex cables? sounds to me your lcd is broken.
