hi my sons ipad min was dropped and the screen cracked. It was left for a while as we went on holiday. Came back and tried to charge it up but it wouldnt charge and its not recognised in itunes either. Ive tried a hard reset whilst its plugged into itunes but nothing. Any help appreciated

If the screen cracked after the drop, then it probably took some heavy damage internally. I presume you meant the front glass is cracked but it is also possible that the inner LCD is also damaged. As for the device not starting, it could also be caused by the battery connector becoming partially disconnected. At any rate, the only way to understand the problem will be to open up the device and start troubleshooting. I would take a look at this guide to see if you are comfortable opening the device. The iPad mini is one of the more difficult iDevices to repair so you’ll need to be honest with yourself about your abilities. I would start by inspecting the LCD to see if it is cracked. If not, then check the battery and digitizer/lcd connections to insure they were properly seated. then you could measure the voltage directly at the battery. ~3V should be sufficient to allow the device to boot. So if the battery has more voltage than that, your problem may be within the logic board.

Try to left it to charge for at least 2 hours. then try to boot it in DFU mode, in itunes. If nothing happens and stay undetected, then might have logic board issues
