Just had to replace a couple parts in my IPad 2. New digitizer, new Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Antenna, new Volumn and Power buttons, and a new set of batteries. My issue is when trying to restore the IPad i get “IPad could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1)” error and it won’t let me continue. Anybody have any hints as to how to fix this issue?

Try this, depending on what applies to your model. Disconnect everything from the board:

  • Disconnect but then reseat the Wi-Fi board.
  • Disconnect the LCD-like cable that connects the right side of the main logic board with the smaller side board, isolating the PMV cable that you just installed from the main board;
  • Disconnect the upper flat cable that connects the top of the main board with other parts of the iPad such as the headphones jack; (Watch out for those flat cable connectors on the board; they are brittle!) Keep only connected to the board: LCD, touch screen, charging dock, and of course the WiFi board that you reseated. Plug a known good charging cable in your iPad. Start iTunes (latest version) on your computer. Press on the home button, while pressing plug the charging cable into the computer. The iPad will start in restore mode. iTunes should prompt you to restore. Accept and leave it undisturbed. Does it succeed in restoring?
