Hey guys, i dropped my ipad 2 on a carpet from 45cm. it has a screen protector but now my screen is blue but i can still see and interact with the display. (see photo)

what do i have to check if it is broken or what do i have to change? (maybe the lcd or the display cable or the graphic chip?) i have an ipad 2 with wifi and cellular, 64gb. please help me :) and sorry for my bad english. Paul

First try a hard reset by holding down the power and home buttons together for 10 seconds or so. If that doesn’t work try giving the back of the iPad a firm smack. There have been cases where a fall like this jars the LCD cable loose and a firm hit to the back sets it back in place.

You may need to open it up and re-seat the LCD cable. See this guide.

LIke David and Brian suggest, this is the LCD connector. Smack will resolve it for awhile, but for a lasting repair open it up and reseat the connector.

I was working on one that did this without dropping it. The display did not show except for a flash when you press the wake/sleep button. I did the bump method on it after some research. It recovered to full bright clear display, then I opened it up and replaced the LCD cable and sealed it with Kapton tape. The cable was probably not bad but it was not expensive so I replaced it anyway.

The smacking it totally worked! Thank you!!

I tried this also with mine after I dropped it and everything went red on mine…After the hard reset didn’t work, I re-dropped it several times and it fixed the problem……..thank you for the info……

Just smacking the back haphazard will probably not fix the problem. You will need to smack it about four inches fro each side in the corner where the volume control is. That is where the connector is and smacking anywhere else will probably not work.

Yes, it worked for my ipad2. I just hit few times at the back side of ipad and it is working fine now.
