Hi! Two iMac EMC 2308 have come into my hands. One of them does not turn on, and another has broken LVDS connector at motherboard I bought a new LVDS connector to replace the broken one (it has been really complicated to weld with non-professional equipment) and also noticed that inverter board was broken (missing pins for flex inverter cable) So, I took apart inverter board from the one that does not power on and noticed they are physically identical despite the fact that the reference number is different: one is V267-707HF while the other one is V267-702HF. I suppose they are compatible, but it takes me to a problem: iMac now boots fine, has image at external monitor but iMac screens remains black with light. All four leds at motherboard are up and internal screens is recognized by OS X. I’m not an expert on repairs so it is very likely problem is on LVDS conector but.. may the image problem be related to inverter instead of video connector? Any help will be very much appreciated
When it is booted up, if you can discern the desktop while holding a flashlight at an angle to the screen but the screen is dark, that’s an inverter issue.
