I actually have a 2001 GMC Sonoma with a 2.2l, the fields wouldn’t let me select that. Anyway, I put a new starter in and when I went to reconnect the battery o got some significant sparks…. Well, it cranked right up but after trying a couple times it acted like it didn’t want to crank, then it lost all electrical power. Sometimes it cranks smoothly, sometimes it cranks rough, others it doesn’t do anything. Please help!
Mr. Walters, check your connections on both ends of your battery cables. A poor connections may be causing high resistance. Check your battery with a multimeter as well, you should have roughly 12.6 Volts
