hey people i have a 5th gen ipod video and most of the time when i turn it on i get a white screen with dead pixels on it while loading the apple logo then a pure white screen the rest of the time. However sometimes the screen does work perfectly and it generally work this way after i have held menu and centre button to reset i think. but i have to leave it for a bit for the screen to work good. this isnt always what happens when i reset it sometimes it goes to the white screen. Now is this the lcd or maybe logicboard. i dont wanna pull apart unless i have to. the ipod works fine at all times times just cant see what i am doing also if helps i believe my battery isnt holding as much charge as the ipod seems to be dying quicker then i remember it use to

pheel, I would go ahead and replace the LCD and the battery. That may fix it and it is difficult to exactly determine what is wrong with your iPod. But go the cheaper way. Replace the LCD and also take a good look at the cable connector. I would think that your iPod could have a video decoder issue, but that would mean that you will need a new logic board. This in turn is more expensive. Do it the cheapest way and work your way up. Good Luck iPod 5th Generation (Video) Display Replacement
