kaikho, Here is something you can try from forum below. Go to the Acer driver page for your computer. Download the Intel IO chip set drivers for Windows 8.1. Run the setup for the driver in “compatibility mode” and install. You will need to restart the computer. The computer will then recognize the track pad as a valid device. Then download and install the Synaptics (or Elan) driver for Win 10 from the Acer support page and restart. If the track pad is not immediately active on the restart, hit Function F7. You can also check out the link for more info./trouble shooting ideas. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. https://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10

I had the same problem recently and i fixed the problem by installing IO driver.. this is the link to WIN10 64 bit IO intel driver… I hope this will help https://bit.ly/2NliEQ7

hi you can got BIOS and change a touch pad from advanced to BASIC and it will work. you don’t need to download drivers for windows 8.1

This partially worked for me and totally pointed me in the right direction. Now the laptop is FIXED!!! :D It was an Acer Aspire E5 511 Trackpad not showing up in device manager. Installed the synaptic and Elan drivers but no luck. Then tried to install the Chip set drivers still no good, it kept saying error with copying file on a DLL. What did it for me was installing: Serial IO Driver And then everything else after. Now finally I have fixed my brothers laptop. I am thinking that the serial IO is that part of the motherboard that connects the computer to its peripherals including the Trackpad. Hope this helps you as the main answer indeed helped me a bit. Thanks.

The post by Lanie Cabanban  worked for my Acer Aspire E-15 ES-511-COPC. Immediately after installing the IO driver, trackpad worked, where no other suggestion did. Was not in the BIOS, latest Windows 10 update was Aug/15/2019, and installing the driver did not work. Thanks Lanie. A. I updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The touchpad was not listed in Device Manager. Went into bios, changed touchpad option from Advanced to Basic. Re-booted and works fine.

Turns out, installing windows 10 in Legacy BIOS is a bad idea if you like your touchpad. I Reinstalled windows in UEFI and now it works fine :)

After trial and error numerous times with the win 8.1 drivers and all nonsense, I noticed that my bios didn’t have the option to change touchpad setting from advanced to basic so obviously I needed to update my bios… Change setting and its that’s

install touchpad synaptics driver and restart FN+ F7 doesnt work
