I’m deciding to buy a new iMac 5K retina display and I asked a few questions in Apple community and now I am really worry about it as people saying iMac are sealed and cannot be repair or replace anything except RAM. Because I am thinking about a long term usage like 10 years. Does it last long? I am using my MacBook Pro mid 2009 for 6 years already.

Apple usually supports a Mac for 6 years and then says it’s at the end of life. I have 21 year old Macs that run just fine. Repairs on this model are difficult, adding RAM requires a logic board removal but I have done it on the 2012-13, you just need the proper tools and gaskets. Frankly I’m putting my high end customers in the 2012 MacPros because they are so well built and easily upgradable.
