I recently had some minor water damage to my MacBook Air and the display died. It appears to be the WLED driver as shining a light through the back of the screen reveals the display (and the computer itself still seems to be working). When I took it to my local Apple repair shop they said if it was the WLED driver chip they would have to replace both the logic board and the display, for a grand total of 900 USD. That seemed like a lot of replacing for one broken component so I thought I’d check whether others agree with their opinion or if there might be another way to fix it. MacBook.s currently in the shop waiting for them to finish their diagnosis so I don’t have serial numbers, etc. It’s a 2015 model though. Advice welcome! Cheers, Tom

It all depends on the damaged area, it could be only the backlight chip, other components around it or damaged traces. Usually a third party shop will charge you around 250 to 350 $/euros/pounds for this repair.
