I heard that repairing using aftermarket LCD causes problems with the MacBook’s automatic brightness function and keyboard backlight. Is it true?

Well… It’s not that simple! The source of the part is the key! A new from the factory assembly (virgin) won’t have had its camera calibrated for the TrueTone services so the camera and the brightness services won’t work. If you got a used display from what was a working system the calibration had been performed and is stored in the displays T-CON logic ROM and will work correctly with your system. This issue is only a problem with the 2018 and newer MacBook Pro’s that have TrueTone.
