…will touch ID still be functional? I still have my old touch ID home button (original. picture 2) that came with the logic board, but I wonder if the home button flex cable (picture 1) is also tied to the motherboard? thanks iphone 6

Yes your home button and touch ID will work. The flex that is on the screen back plate is not married to the board.
