I upgraded my MacBook Pro 15 with a 1 TB SSD. It now runs with the speed of summer lightning. However, my optical drive quit working properly. When I load a disc it spins and makes the normal noises. Then it spits out the disc. I need this in order to load Windows on the dark side. It worked fine before the upgrade. I even put the old hard drive back in and it still behaves the same. It must be something not related to the hard drive. Any suggestions
If yhis came into my shop, the and I know the symptoms, the first thing I would do is replace the optical with a know working one. These drives are now cheap. Google Apple part number 661-4702 for the latest version. MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 Optical Drive Replacement
Have you tried using a head cleaning disk. Sometimes dust gets stuck across the lens set. Also you might need to clean your disk as well.
