2001 Honda Accord ex V6: The code still Reads Egr valve but I replaced the valve and my car will not pass smog because of that code. What can I do?

@silkyshe, Sheilah, After the part was replaced were the codes cleared with a scan tool if not have the code cleared or it will hold that code in the computer until a few of successful drive cycles have passed. If error comes back let us know, tell us what the exact codes are as some codes can have more then one cause. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts, etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Did you clean the EGR passage, it’s on the bottom part of the plennum (top part of the air intake manifold)close to the throttle body… you’ll see the 6 large round holes for each cylinders and a small square one (mine was all clogged up with carbon) just spray it generously with carb cleaner and brush off that gunk with a screwdriver or something small… hope that helps… You’ll probably need a throttle body gasket since it gets very brittle with time (it’s inexpenssive)
