OK, this is vexing me. I have an Apple A1255 Bluetooth wireless keyboard for the life of me can’t find a replacement battery door cover. I called Apple, and they said they don’t sell the part and can’t help. So, it’s time to fashion or fix it another way. I gotta imagine other people have lost that end that holds the battery in.. any advice or help? Thanks!

Hi, I’m having the same issue trying to find a replacement part, no luck so far. To make mine work I just took some stripped copper speaker wire, coiled it up and used that to both secure the batteries and provide the appropriate contact to make it work. Tinfoil about 1"x3" wide strip fold up enough so it will fit inside battery compartment. Put in the 3 batteries flat side up, put the piece of tinfoil on the last battery, screw in the hex screw till its snug, press power, you have a working bluetooth keyboard. (Looks frankensteinesque) So if you have a metal saw, you could trim it down a bit and make your own more ergonomic caps. Thanks. I have the same problem. Why Why doesn’t Apple sell the replacement part. I hope Apple uses some sort of social media manager and finds all the complaints about this. Maybe if I add some words to get their attention Apple, NOT Happy with product, keyboard for my iPad, Update Thanks Thomas. Took your advice about the hex screw but actually was able to get something better. Small screw placed inward provides contact to battery.

I too a can of dip ( grizzly wintergreen) empty took the lid and a pair of scissors and cut the middle and cut out a circle little bigger then the hole and pushed it in there. so the metal is right in the groves and it is perfect cost about 3 dollors and will hold till you have to take it out.

I found one on eBay. The search WITHIN eBay didn’t turn anything up… but when I googled it, a link was found that took me to a “But It Now” auction for one. Maybe you could have similar luck.

Try using tin foil it worked for me

Tried the 3D print solution; but in the interim, was also successful in simply crafting a plug sized cap out of FIMO (polymer clay), and hardening it. I was skeptical about the “tin foil” solution, but actually, it worked perfectly. If I needed to do it agin, I would use SUGRU, as it remains a little pliable after hardening.
