I sent my iPhone off to have the motherboard fixed, after waiting 2 months it came back activation locked..! So my question is, is it possible that a used motherboard was placed into my iPhone..? If that is the case would a new motherboard fix the activation lock, or do I need my old motherboard to program the new motherboard..?
@ TL B Yes, a new unlocked logic board will be sufficient to have an unlocked iPhone, no need for your old one. However, phone will be of course clean, without anything of your previous data in it. Make sure the relevant working home button will be supplied with the new logic board, the one on the phone won’t work with the new board.
The logic board IS THE phone. If the phone shows up as Activation Locked, then the whole logic board is locked. Unless you “locked it” yourself via your AppleID, then the tech either knowingly or unknowingly put a different board in the phone. You can only “unlock” your original logic board. I would call the tech and start asking questions. That’s quite an error to commit :(.
