Chosen Solution
I just got a 2011 15” MacBook Pro and works as described,When I plug the batt., I get the chime, fans spin, white screen, (no keyboard light) and after some time (+- 20 seconds), the system reboots, (chime) and then shut off. Only boot if I plug the batt. or magsafe… This happen with no SSD, with SSD (Sierra with GPu disable), bootable USB etc…. Can it be the Keyboard? Can I unplug the keyboard connector from motherboard and try with external keyboard? Or should break for parts?
With the drive installed & connected, MagSafe disconnected and battery removed, press the power button and hold it for a good 15 sec to fully discharge the logic board. Now plug in the MagSafe and quickly press the Shift (⇧) to enter into Safe Mode. Are you able to get that far? What do you see on the screen. Reference: Mac startup key combinations
