My laptop recently started to show vertical lines after boot up then after running for a few minutes the screen just goes black. After trying some troubleshooting tips from HP now the screen is black all the time. Removed battery, pressed the power button for 20 seconds and plugged the power cord back in. Rebooted and did a start that way but nothing changed. Removed the memory cards and reinstalled made correctly seated and removed and checked connections to hard drive. Rebooted no change.
Hook it up to an external monitor to try to isolate the problem. Also hold a flashlight at an angle to the screen and see if you can see the desktop.
Ok problem {solved}, this is what i did, after researching hours of posts claiming its a easy fix. Now first step is to unplug the power supply, don’t wait 20 seconds or whatever, because you won’t be needing it. Take your laptop out to the garage and place it on top of an anvil, preferably a large one, take a sledge, with a good grip and arms fully extended, take a big swing at the center of the keyboard.
