I have an HP ProDisplay P202. I can connect my MacBook A with USB-C using and use the monitor, but the following doesn’t work: Macbook A to then <HDMI to DisplayPort Cable #1> Macbook A to then <HDMI to DisplayPort Cable #2> Apple TV with HDMI using <HDMI to DisplayPort Cable #1 or #2> Macbook B with HDMI using <HDMI to DisplayPort Cable #1 or #2> I can’t figure out what the issue is since monitor works with one cable, but not HDMI cable - is there something about HDMI to DisplayPort that prevents it from working correctly?

From what you have described I would say it is probably the HDMI cable that is the problem. Have you tested it on another system? Just curious, why would you want the HDMI cable over Display Port? It is like beer and champagne.
