I have recently received a new iPhone 7 and my old iPhone is just sitting on my desk, without much use. Does anyone have any good ideas for repurposing?
@nathan2803 even so your phone maybe old to you and you may feel it has become technically obsolete but it can still serve plenty of other uses. Anything is better than contributing to the already huge mountains of e-waste we have in the world. Here aresome decent ideas. If nothing else give it to somebody that may still want to use it. Some people might just not be as fortunate as you and I. Whatever you do, don’t add your cellphone to e-waste mountain just yet.
If you don’t jailbreak it, you can use it as. • iPod • Navigation system with open maps downloaded to the phone and no data plan • Paper weight • Security monitor • remote control for various items (i.e. nest, alexa, smart lights, etc) • if you get the a/v adapter, you can upload movies to it and directly play them off the TV • flashlight
You could always jailbreak it and make it look awesome! Keep it in your car with a charge as a spare phone for whatever reason. You could give it to a family or friend member if they’re in need of one
You could use it for travelling, jailbreak it, use it for certain apps or give it to a family member in need of a new phone. You can also use it to store photos and videos that take up too much storage on your new phone. You could always sell it for parts if you’re looking to get some money out of it. Maybe even use it to see what’s inside it or replace the logic board to have more storage (if that’s how it works) and store apps & other data on it that you don’t want or need on your old phone. You could always keep it as a spare if you ever need it!
