So this screen had a small tumble and the cracked screen seems to have damaged the LCD panel. Any tips on parts/tools to repair it?
Unfortunately, Dell has never repaired monitors, sold monitor components, or have monitor disassembly documentation. Short of finding a seller of panels on eBay, there is not much that you can do.
Last year my company bought one DELL U2719D Monitor and after a few weeks usage once when I gently griped its black bezel on the left side in order to tilt it a bit more for a more convenient angle the display has been broken along a thin line and discolored similar like the images above show it. I am very dissappointed as I used it the same way as any other raized bezel monitor before, furthermore I’ve been working with Dell workstations for long years without any hardware isue. The supplier and Dell service manger in Hungary doesn’t want to admit this design error. The question has been still in my mind that why these sharp but weak bezeled constructions are legal to be on the market while it can damaged with a care gesture too. As an industrial designer I can’t believe that an everyday used piece like this how is designed and licenced to the market without any gripping part or a strengthened bezel. The Dell in USA cannot be contacted from the EMEA (Hungary) to ask for their formal opinion on this fundamental design defect. Anyone knows a direct contact to the Dell’s stakeholders, please give me. Thank You.
