I want to replace both the SSD blade and the HD with a single SSD drive in a late 2012 iMac 27”. Do I need to first split up the Fusion Drive or can I simply remove both SSD blade and HD and replace the HD with the SSD drive following the respective instructions? I do have a time machine backup. Reason: the SSD blade reports an error and I always wanted to upgrade the HD anyway.
