Unlike older iMacs the new iMac 27" offers space for 4 Ram-bars. The lower ones can be removed using the tabs, just like the older iMac. But how can I remove the upper ones? There are no tabs or anything…

if you continue pulling the tabs once the first row DIMM is ejected, does that pull out the upper bank’s DIMM? I’ve been meaning to open up my 27" but haven’t yet, but I notice from Apple’s instructions there is only one tab per side, as you mention. my guess is each tab will pull out both, one at a time…

Im actually trying this now, on the Mid 2010 27" iMac and the preinstalled tier of RAM (closest to rear) wont budge on either slot, i dont actually need to remove it but i was just curious. I will be installing new RAM in very soon (to bump it up to 8GB) using 2GB in each free slot so this should not be a problem but i was thinking about the long term issues with this. I also found the iFixit guide to be lacking in the installation process. Any ideas?
