hi. the webcam on my macbook pro does not work. i bought the laptop new. i have never been able to use the webcam. i noticed the problem after warranty expired. Mac OS said i have no webcam….. since then i have experienced the exact same problem also in other operating systems like Windows 7 and 10 as well as many different Linux distributions. i have never done anything to the laptop. i have never opened it or had any repairs done to it. i want to sell the laptop but unfortunately the non-functioning webcam takes from the value so i want to fix the webcam. is there something i can do to at least troubleshoot the issue. maybe it is a very simple problem to fix with help of someone with enough knowledge of this device. i thank you kindly in advance.
You may have to replace the full screen assembly or the logic board, no one can tell without having parts to swap for testing. Considering spares costs of both, plus work involved, it doesn’t make much sense economically..it would be wiser in my opinion to give a discount for the “as is” condition and forget about it. Personally, although I may not represent the average buyer, I couldn’t care less for the webcam, haven’t used one for years.
