hopme button needs a little bit repair bacause it needs more power to push to activate

Follow that link to take front screens off, turn screens over so you’re looking at the back of the home button. You should see 2 very small gold prongs, these get bent flat from use (why you need to press hard now) use a flathead screwdriver to GENTLY lift them up to 45•. Replacing the button won’t change a thing… You may need to change the flex under it ($1-3) easy fix

The home button is part of the front panel assembly. You can get the front panel assembly apart from the rest of the iPhone by following this tutorial: iPhone 3G Front Panel Assembly Replacement After you have done that try playing with the connectors around the home button, and purchase a iPhone 3G home button from another site if you believe it needs replacing.
