Chosen Solution

Hello, First, I’ll let you know. I am not a fixer, a hobbyist, or technologically savvy at all. I recently purchased a new front glass for the Galaxy S9 and the Iopener from IFIXIT and have followed all the steps to replace the front glass via their instruction page as well as their youtube channel. Things were off to a rough start with removing the back glass, but eventually, I got it. I followed the subsequent steps and now I am at the final step attaching the front glass. I can not figure out how to attach the wire strip that comes off the front glass. Is it magnetized? Did I miss a step? Is my phone more damaged than I originally thought? How do we actually connect the front glass to the phone? I am starting to think that this was a venture too big for me and just waster $200+ dollars to save $70 and now ultimately will have to go buy a new phone. Any assistance/hope that can be offered will be greatly appreciated. -Cortney

Are you talking about the ASSEMBLY with the panel or the GLASS ONLY part? Glass only is just about impossible for inexperienced end users - even I have trouble with it and I’m no stranger to a difficult repair like that. The edge screen phones are well beyond my ability to pull off. If you bought the glass only part without a panel, don’t try unless you’re 110% comfortable with it - it is an art. I know how to do it on the thoroughly obsolete phones (S3/Note 2 age) but not Edge screen phones - I still need to learn how. If you’re talking about the bare screen without a frame, this guide covers the job.

Hi @cortreagan For the inexperienced tech, there is a much easier option. Instead of trying to attach this bare screen and hope it’ll work, try working with a frame assembly that comes with the screen already attached. Here is a link to parts that I trust for Samsung repairs (Premium parts are OEM from Samsung). Best of luck finishing this repair!
