Hi, Here is a link that shows how to insert a SSD in a Asus K501j, that may hopefully be of some help. The downside of this method appears to be that you lose the DVD drive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3aszUqW… An alternative that you may wish to consider is inserting the largest capacity / highest class SD/SDHC Card that you can afford in the card reader and leaving it in there. It is unobtrusive, and if you make it the storage drive then you can safely remove it at anytime to safeguard your data, easily transfer it onto somewhere else and keep your DVD drive..
