I recieved a black Clamcase for the iPad 2 and it works well. But I have an idea that I want to accomplish as an improvement and can’t seem to get the thing apart. I want to do it without tearing everything up to the point that if resold it would be obvious that it has been opened up. I have pulled the rubber feet off the bottom to see if there are screws under the rubber, but no go. I can split the sides of the bottom section (keyboard half) with spudger tools till I get to the corners, but nothing ever spererates. If anyone can help I would appreciate it! Thanks!
I just created a teardown with my experience tearing down my clamcase. Hope you enjoy it: ifixit iPad Clamcase
Hey Thom, we don’t currently have a teardown or any guides for the ClamCase, but we’d love to have some! We always support a member of our community delving into the innards of their devices. The best advice we can offer is to go slowly and keep in mind that if it was assembled, it can be disassembled. ;-) If you feel like diving in and figuring out what clams that case together, feel free to start a teardown or some guides! I’m sure that we, as well as the rest of the community, would love to help you out. So snap a couple photos and send us a link!
Hey Guys, You need to pull off the bottom closeout to reveal all the torq screws on the bottom. You can get the main bottom closeout off by lifting one edge with a hobby knife and pulling off. The PSA will stay good to re-apply. Once you remove those you should be all set.
There are also six torx screws under the rubber bumpers on the keyboard side. To remove the bottom, you need to remove 4 of those screws. There are 2 larger ones in the center (one on each side) that can stay put. These screws are under the bumpers near the escape key and the power key.
