When I turn off my iPad Nano, it does not turn off and continues draining the battery. According to an artile I read, there is a fix for this, but I cannot find it.
That was one of the most disappointing features of this gen iPod. The answer is “No” you cannot completely turn it off. The iPod will continue to draw power from the battery. There is a software update iPod nano (6th generation): Software update version 1.1 changes, which says you can turn it off Instructions are here So try an update to that version with iTunes. You probably could also get it from here. It also explains to you how to do it. Good Luck
