my 15" powerbook displays a black prompt rectangle with several languages instructing the user to restart the machine everytime you try to boot it up. the power cable turns from green to orange when this prompt appears. how can i fix this? i read somewhere that what i am experiencing is referred to as kernel panic.
Yes, it’s a kernel panic. Start your machine up from a system installation disk by inserting disk and restarting holding down the “C” key. Go to the second screen pull down menu to Utilities -> Disk Utility. Repair your hard drive and keep doing so until it runs clear. If the hard drive will not repair, come back and we’ll tell you how to replace it.
