My bios update got interrupted now it will not boot fans come on for 2-3 seconds then shuts off I’ve tried taking the CMOS battery out switching rams around switching hard drives around discharging the power I’m not sure what else to try other than the jumpers but I can’t find them
I don’t think this can be fixed without reflashing the BIOS. I’m really not sure how to do this with a corrupted BIOS. Your best bet would be to take it to a repair shop or figure out some way to DIY it. Although, it may work if you reset the CMOS. There should be 2 or 3 pins on your motherboard that will be labeled PASSWORD, CLR_CMOS, CMOS, CLR or PSSWRD. Try shorting these pins with some sort of jumper and see if that helps. I’m sorry I couldn’t explain better. Update: I did some looking around and found the info needed to reset the BIOS. You can find it here. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/e…
Hi, According to the service manual the LED error code Flash - On - On gives the following result (click on Diagnostics > LED Error codes) Description: System board error Next Step
- Reseat the processor.
- Replace the system board.
- Replace the processor. Alternatively, you may hopefully have the option of restoring the BIOS by using the BIOS recovery header pins. Here is a link that describes what to do. It may not be applicable to your computer but it doesn’t hurt to look.
