Chosen Solution Eoghan, Small tweezers, toothpick, jewelers screw driver or something like that, should enable yo to straighten the pins in charge port. Chosen Solution Hello excellent iFixit community, I recently diagnosed a client’s iMac as having a failed LCD panel. I mentioned to him he could use it only with an external display, and he accepted this solution, at which point I disconnected the LVDS cable, backlight power cable, and V-SYNC cable. I left the LCD temperature sensor cable connected. This setup worked for me in the shop with an external, but apparently didn’t work for him when he took it home and tried it several weeks later....

Chosen Solution I recognize that this is an old question. Horizontal lines are almost exclusively caused by failed Gate drivers on the panel. They are part of the panel and can not easily replaced (requires special equipment). You can always check the small ribbon cables that connect from the driver board (part of the panel) to the LCD panel itself. Those flat ribbon cables are bonded to the panel. Push on the ribbon cable that corresponds to the location of the line....

Chosen Solution I have used a hairdryer to preheat the computer for a while (2 years or so) whenever it accidentally switched off but one day, it just wasn’t enough. After searching for help, without result, in different fora, I thought about taking the hairdryer solution to the next level. I removed the battery, turned on the oven to 50°C, put the Mac in and waited for half an hour. Guess what: it booted up just fine....

If I swap to a 2012 logic board (I know this can be done) and a larger ssd, will I be able to upgrade to 10.14.2. The requirements for 10.14.2 exclude the 2011 models.
